Thank you for your interest in this research study.
The Yale School of Nursing and New England Research Institutes (NERI) are conducting a Randomized Controlled Trial to evaluate an internet-based program for parents of adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes known as Type 1 Teamwork. The Type 1 Teamwork program provides tools and support for parents of teens with type 1 diabetes as their teen takes over more responsibility for their diabetes care. This study is funded by a federal grant from National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, National Institutes of Health.
What would I do?
If eligible, you will be randomly assigned to one of two conditions:
- Active (50% chance): unlimited access to the online Type 1 Teamwork website
- Control (50% chance): usual care (standard visits with your provider and the typical education and information that you would normally receive). Access to the Type 1 Teamwork program after completion of study questionnaires (6 months).
You will not be able to choose your group assignment. Your participation in the study will be 6 months, including completing online questionnaires at the beginning of the study, at 3 months, and at 6 months. Following completion of the 6-month questionnaires, participants in both groups will have access to the Type 1 Teamwork website.
This project is a joint effort on behalf of the Yale School of Nursing and New England Research Institutes (NERI). Participation in this research is voluntary and confidential.
